This fruit bowl is the first object in the Ipazia series to be manufactured. The series is the product of a true obsession: the sky. Ultimately, the sky poses every question and provides every answer we have, whether we are discussing science, religion, philosophy or mythology.
The Apollonius curve, studied and interpreted by the great Alexandrian mathematician, Hypatia (in Italian: Ipazia), opened channels of knowledge that led us to trace the elliptical orbits of the planets, to investigate the precession of the equinoxes and many of the mysteries which still envelope the universe.
In our cloudless southern skies, the planets accompany us with their dance which, when set out on paper, form fascinating shapes, dominated by circles, parabolas, ellipses and hyperbolas. Some of these structures are studied at school and at university, but what happens when we use them as keys to ‘feel’ the movement of the cosmos? What happens is that we have simple, linear harmony that is generated automatically in the mind and gives life to shapes and objects that we have never seen before but feel familiar, because they are fragments of the universe and, consequently, we recognise them.
